Open Letters

Dear Friends, this is a venue where I am allowing like-minded people to publish their "Open Letters" concerning issues that we all face in today's trying times. These statements are not necessarily endorsed by me but do pass my general position of acceptance.

If anyone has taken a position by writing a letter to our government representatives and you  are not intimidated to post it, please send it along. I think this freedom is very important, I do not fear retaliation, I believe our freedom can only be protected by those who stand in the FRONT ROW.

An open letter to:

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Washoe County Commissioners as noted:

Governor Brian Sandoval, and Washoe County Commisioners: John Breternitz, David Humke, Kitty Jung, Robert Larkin, Bonnie Weber and State Senators: Don Gustavson, Gerg Brower, Ben Kieckhefer, and Sheila Leslie.

Honorable Governor, State Senators, and esteemed Washoe County Commissioners,

This letter is from a 32 year resident, voting citizen of Sparks, Washoe County, Nevada, husband, father, grandfather and USMC veteran of the Viet Nam war, a businessman, and property manager.

Please cease spending money that either, does not exist, we don’t have, or cannot be manufactured by government.  The talk of budget woes and shifting funds between County and State coffers to balance budgets, while asking citizens to live with less education, less safety, less excellence, less prosperity is more symptom than substance.  A recent college graduation commencement address by Mark Helperin sums up . . . “A whole nation cannot live a lie, although we have been admirably trying.”   It’s a lie to continue spending more than you have.  We don’t do it personally or in business.  Government should be prohibited from spending more than it takes in.  And the recent announcement that our Supreme Court ordered our neighbor state of California to release up to some 43,000 prisoners because it deemed cruel and unusual punishment for them to live in over-crowded conditions, due to lack of money I might add, while we allow public servants to slowly strip us of the unalienable right to life by self-defense is beyond the pale, and an ominously preposterous oxymoron.   That we should be a people so ignorant as to believe the lie that government is our Protector and Provider, is beyond belief.  We military veterans know too well the real cost of freedom.   I include an enlightening quote from our First Lady.  “Barrack Obama will require you to work.  He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism, put down your divisions, that you come out of your isolation . . . Barrack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.”, Michelle Obama.  Indeed the goal seems that we never return to, “lives as usual . . . ”  That we have shackled ourselves by electing such elitist fellow-citizens filled with overweening pride and arrogance would be most putrid to statesmen of our recent past and is to our demise.  Government must not remove the personal property of its citizens and thereby facilitate their destruction.  Balance budgets the old fashioned way, don’t borrow to spend more.  To quote in borrowed context from another First Lady, “Just say no”.  Quit spending.

Respectfully,

Dave Haskins

Dear Friends:

As an American citizen, I like many of us have seen our government allow a downward spiral away from protecting our fiscal responsibility, Constitutional principles and producing a balanced budget. We are at a point where people under 40 years of age really don’t have a basic understanding of our Constitution or its purpose as a document for guiding the governmental process of our country.

After considerable personal consideration on the topic of “political parties”, the divisions between them and the divisions within themselves, I have personally come to the following conclusions.

1) As the original “Tea Party American Citizens” “considered” the concept of “throw them all out”. I have reached the point where I concur with this principle. The concept of the Tea Party participants is to put “principals” before party politics.

2) It is my challenge that “our first priority” in the bureaucratic arena is to seek, support and elect candidates who’s conservative values, truth, fiscal and moral principles are first and foremost and that they sign and attest to the “position statements” as drafted by the “Contract From America”.

3) In my “opinion” any vetted candidate from any party who “signs” the Contract From America” should receive the support of any and all Tea Party organizations who have adopted the Contract From America as their mission statement.

4) The management of government and political organizations are driven by many different factions. We must bring the message to them that THEY are there to serve “we the people” using our Constitution as the handbook.

5) There are no government agencies which produce a profit or resource to support their existence. Small business and labor are the largest “contributors” of the American tax base and they contribute to an entity (government) which does not generate but only “spends and/or distributes” tax income while consuming some 20% thereof for its “operating costs”. We can better serve ourselves with public – private entities.

With these thoughts and opinions I would urge all “Tea Party” individuals, organizations and personal friends to adopt and adhere to the basic principles of the Contract from America and its simple basic principles of ACTION PLEDGE:

We, the citizens of the United States of America, call upon those seeking to represent us in public office to sign the Contract from America and by doing so commit to support each of its agenda items and advocate on behalf of individual liberty, limited government, and economic freedom”.

Dear Representative Amodei,
Dear Senator Reid,
Dear Senator Heller,

We, the undersigned, call on Justice Elena Kagan to recuse herself from hearing the Obamacare case before the US Supreme Court in view of her obvious conflict of interest. Her participation, as Solicitor General, in preparing the Administration’s legal defense strategy should preclude her from judging this case. The integrity of the Supreme Court of the United State is at stake. This Justice is a mockery to the Judicial system.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Karel Rice
